In some states, diesel commands a premium over regular gas. In my area, diesel is routinely about 12% more expensive than regular. That makes this somewhat desirable.

The vignette can be bought at practically every rest area, gas station, magazine stand, etc ad infinitum anywhere within about 20 miles of the border. They're also very well marked, but I suppose to a certain degree you need to know to look for them.
