Dealer I worked at had a Jetta like this. Manual steering, no AC, 5 speed, might not have even had a radio, or power brakes. Sat for a few years. Not sure who bought it.

These tests really bug me. It should be standard procedure to put a matching set of offroad tires on these things. Maybe not a big deal with this test, but in general. And a nice set of tires on ANY vehicle doing an offroad test.

Almost all dealers will cover anything that is clearly covered under the manufacturers warranty. Its a lot of money in their pockets. Many of the current 6-8 speed trannys can do 10+ speeds. It’s just a matter of changing the valve body and software.

Used to see a wagon at the dealer I worked at. All I remember was it needed front brake calipers and were I believe 6 piston and not cheap. It was the v10 Taureg diesels that were really brutal. Had one in with a 35k warranty bill! Nothing was cheap or even reasonable on Tauregs.
