I’ve looked at the FBI’s Uniform Crime Report (UCR) for my little municipality and learned that the local crime rate has fallen by over half since the early 1990s, yet I’m constantly having to argue with neighbors who swear that the town is going to hell in a handbasket and that crime is out of control. I’m the last person whom you’d expect to be quoting the Bard of Long Island, but Billy Joel sang it best:

I’m sorry about your Dad. He could be anyone’s father. Ageing sometimes changes people.

Smith wielded his stick like a samurai sword. Badass goalie.

It appeared that Postma was sliding across the crease into the Allen and pushed him out of position.

My teenage son just discovered The Kinks and plays that tune often :-)

I’m almost the same age and I am in the same boat as you. My Jeep GC just eclipsed 200,000 miles and it has been mostly trouble-free.

I see plenty of Renegades in my neighborhood. My local used car lot is selling a 2015 Renegade with 30k miles on it for $19,000. I can get a new 2017 Renegade (2018s are due out in the spring IIRC) for approx. $4,000 more, full warranty and 0% financing.

With apologies to the Flyers, no team rocked Cooperalls (and CCM Propacs) like the Whalers.

I found a few of those 2017 Pentastars at a dealer by me in the low 20s *BEFORE* any additional discounts. I am sincerely intrigued.

Patrick, I read this article in your voice. I enjoyed the Fall of Rome podcast immensely. Looking forward to listening to some of your other work. Please keep them coming!

I have good credit. Looking for a cheap AWD vehicle that can haul my kids around and I can take camping on weekends. I’d consider this car.

My work days don’t vary much: stare at my cubicle walls, play on Kinja. Repeat.

The sensors will fail at 50,000 miles, require a trip the dealership removal of the entire chassis to replace because VW.

In 1940 cars appeared to come in a variety of colors. In 2018, we have the choice of black, silver or white. It’s like Henry Ford all over again.

In 1990, when I was a sophomore in college, my great aunt gave me her beautiful red Toyota Corona Mark II station wagon that was sitting in her garage since 1976 and was only driven a few hundred miles annually by her brother.

I wish I had access to this data 30 years ago when I was starting college.
