“Evolution is meritocracy.”

“Then something happened to them, which is that they won. Victory can be a bit of a bitch for people, particularly for a movement of activists, which is what conservatism was. At the heart, contemporary American conservatism does not know what it believes in, and they’re desperately trying to figure that out. Trump

Got any interesting links on this topic? I’m extremely bored.

Umm...that’s not necessarily true. Luck and good timing has almost as much to do with which species survive and which go extinct as which are better.

Except in nature, the stronger, faster, smarter animals survive.

Egad, man. That’s some nonsense. Meritocracy is basically diametrically opposed to your “might is right” assertions.

Yup- it’s like Malcolm Gladwell’s podcast about “let’s rescue the crazy talented poor kids from those terrible schools!” when my reaction was, “Holy crap, we need to throw gobs of money at those terrible schools to make them better for everyone!”

Nietzsche was a monkey who wore pants. Just like everyone else.

There’s also a lot of scholarships that are given to less connected, poor but exceptional students to go to Ivy league schools.

Batman: Bad tempered scion of the rich, punisher of the poor.

America: Founded by followers of the enlightenment, fleeing aristocracy, meritocratic in its codified establishment - so it’s decedent citizens can create the worst kind of inbred aristocracy since the fall of Rome.

This shit is so tied into the moral/ethical perceptions of virtually everyone on the planet.

We must pretend we have a meritocracy or else discussions about taxes, social programs, etc. would hinge on their effectiveness, not some vague moral argument about who “earned” it.

It’s interesting, but I’ve always had a soft spot for these:

Me: “How did his guy swim miles out into the ocean? Is he Michael Phelps?”

That’s so disappointing. I was hoping it’d be Ulrich Bez’s soul, or something.

I cant decide whats more 90's. The rims on it or the color.

Can we talk about the Porsche-emblem tread on those tires, please?

Here’s a teal 996, which is the most ’90s car ever.
