There’s this current of underlying self-awareness to a lot of the present-era AVClub’s clickbait that leaves me unsure if the author is rolling their eyes and laughing or barely able to see the screen through their tears.

She thought her experience would become clickbait.  You won’t believe what happened next.

I don’t know if they got lucky with scheduling, but there’s nothing coming out in the US that remotely resembles a ‘blockbuster’ of the Marvel movie type until the Avatar sequel on December 16. It’s going to make a billion easy, just because it’s basically running unopposed for over a month.

yeah, reviews calling it “The perfect tribute” “A beautiful, emotional send off for Boseman” and the like really says to me “this movie is dogshit without him”

Yeah, this article does fall down in terms of actually delivering useful information. But ironically, in the rush to raise the ‘offended’ flag, Gizmodo actually fell behind Kotaku in terms of actually publishing (with inferior content, to boot.)

I read the article over on Kotaku (which goes into a bit more depth), and while most of the fluff sounds like pretty standard scifi stuff (with the substitution of ‘wizard’ for ‘advanced humans/aliens’ being the perpetrators of the uplifted animals/slave race), some of the accompanying artwork REALLY looks like it’s…
