I still chuckle when I think about how Republicans turned aside tradition and went after the compliant Uncle Tom Daschle in a bid to break Democrats. They thought they had won a great victory and then Harry Reid takes over turns out to be an absolute Lion in the Senate.

Yeah Trump is atleast sympathetic to the gay community... Pence on the other hand...

I think many of my liberal friends(I consider myself liberal) are failing to appreciate the impact of Fee Trade on this election. Hillary trying to deal with Trump on that issue was like Romney versus Obama on healthcare.

I don’t know, Trump was able to tap into the protectionist values of the old political left. He flipped Michigan Pennsylvania and Wisconsin in part because of his staunch and public opposition to American trade agreements. He won in what used to be Democratic strongholds. Just an additional 1% of the vote in Wisco MI

That Bernie, a relative unknown, took 47% of the primary vote despite having little in the way of pre-existing infrastructure and a fraction of Mrs. Clinton’s funding proves that you’re wrong. This election hinged on 2-3% of the vote, she wins more of those old labor dems outside of Detroit, in Western Wisconsin and

Hillary wins the election with an additional 1-2% of the Rust Belt vote.

This article missed key points.

The traditional views of the political left on trade probably would have saved this election. It’s not a coincidence that Sanders also beat Hillary in same states that turned this election.

Legislative experience will tend to get one the personal connections needed to be President. A long time congressman or woman will likely get to know the at least some of the men and women who could flesh out a cabinet.

Dems need to be prudent and pick their battles, resist on some issues cooperate on others. If they play their cards right Trump will start to clash with his own party as he attempts to put his populist policies forward. Just wait till they actually do try to repeal and replace Obamacare.

Remember 2004 and what happened when they actually tried to enact their conservative agenda.

If left unchecked Trump will check Trump.

Haggard face, eyes that cry out frustrated despair... is it me or is he starting to look like John Boehner?

Hillary gave a concession speech, the Dems were expected to oppose him and they lost... but what of those few Republicans who actually did break with him? For my money if the Dems pick their prudently pick their battles Trump will turn on his own party.

He picked up a groundswell of working class whites, the I4 Corridor in Florida was a bell weather for the rest of the election. It might be tempting to look at this election and proclaim that bigotry won but really its about scared frustrated people out in the exurbs who are frightened over their loss of earning power

I would argue that Mr. Obama’s failure to actually address off shoring and outsourcing played a key role in Trump’s victory. Right now rural whites in the exurbs are basically experiencing what black communities experienced back in the 50s and 60s, when factories were leaving their traditional urban locations en

This is too simplistic, Clinton damn near lost the primary to a geriatric unknown without any kind of established support. Why, because of Trade which turned into a driving issue in this election. Clinton, who was previously part of the administration that signed NAFTA, and the WTO, was poorly situated to combat Trump

Or how her campaign decided to dink around in Texas and Georgia instead of focusing on the toss up states that she needed to ice. They were celebrating their victory before they crossed the finish line.

It sucks, but we’ll endure.

I did earlier, but now my ability to laugh at F-d up situations has taken over. F it, im following up that whiskey with PBRs.
