VW lied about their cars, to buyers and to the government. GM made a car, and it has about the risk you'd expect for a first or second gen vehicle in an emerging field.

Counter Point: Nah, there’s no such thing as a bullet-proof vehicle. The Bolt has been gone over so deeply at this point that there’s probably no difference is any sort of ‘risk’ between it and any other BEV. Grab the money and get on with life; no fire-sale, pun intended, needed.
As someone that has gone through two class action lawsuits, TAKE THE $6k. My first one was from Toyota on sudden acceleration. Got a check for $3.50. The second was for LG fridges. Got a check for $350 after proving the fridge ruined all my groceries 3 times.
Exactly. The issue with new cars isn’t that they can’t find buyers. They just can’t make enough cars. If the number of people wanting to buy cars drops by 20% (major recession), it just means that the dealers will only ask $1k over MSRP instead of $10k.

I’m not going to begrudge anyone for not buying a new car or not having bought something; but people also they can’t really complain if they never followed through and the car maker made the totally rational choice to not keep developing low take rate cars.
