The headline here is a 150kWh, semi solid-state battery in the same package as the 100kWh battery, and reportedly only 20kg heavier. The range thing was done as a PR stunt to show the kind of range you can get with such a big battery.

When and where I went to high school, if you had a car that mostly ran under its own power, you were cool no matter what. But if it was a 70's-era boat, that made you double-cool.

Some people swear by it. It’s a little more nuanced. Tesla doesn’t use blended-braking, so in a Tesla, if you use the brake pedals, you are 100% bona-fide turning energy into heat. In order to keep their efficiency and range ratings top-of-the-pack, Tesla doesn’t allow drivers to adjust their regen at all.

It’s not really that difficult to architect. Just come up with an incentive plan that rewards dealers based on how many extended warranties and other add-ons that are sold with TMI financing.
