Question: Why did it cost us $50B to cobble together old Space Shuttle parts?
Interesting on the sonic boom. However, I doubt there will be a viable commercial supersonic airliner within what’s left of my lifetime.
Agreed, although the use of a six-speed auto on their hybrid is...curious. This leads me to believe it’s more like the hybrid on the Tundra, which is more like the integrated motor assist, which is similar to what Honda used to sell on their first-gen hybrids and what many European models are using. Even on a 5,000 lb…
That reminds me...I need to go to Costco to buy, uh, couches, in bulk. Yeah, couches.
Remember when a 200hp, turbocharged vehicle was sex on wheels? Now it doesn’t even light your hair on fire.
This is extremely dangerous to our democracy.
My point is, GM isn’t just shoving batteries into a shared platform (Volvo XC40 Recharge) or a hurry-up EV conversion (Mercedes EQB).
Looks like their strategy is to use existing nameplates with “EV” attached. For the transition period to EV, it’s a good strategy. Customers already associate whatever the existing nameplate is with market position, utility, and styling, so there’s a consumer adoption shortcut. Unlike bz4x SPNY or whatever the hell…
The whole premise of your argument vis-a-vis the Equinox EV is false, though. The Equinox EV is based on the Ultium platform, which is a ground-up, EV-only platform which is also the foundation for the Hummer EV, Cadillac Lyriq, Silverado EV, and Blazer EV...so far. So it is a dedicated EV platform which is not shared…
@neutral. Charles is going to reign for like a year then decide it’s not as good as he thought it would be and abdicate to William.
Didn’t Harry give up all royal privileges to be with his wife?
The Bolt EUV is about 170" long, 70" wide, and 64" tall. The current Equinox gas vehicle is about 183" long, 72" wide and 65" tall. I expect the Equinox EV to come in relatively close in size to the current Equinox gas vehicle. Ten inches longer is nothing to sneeze at in the car world.
Mexico is in North America. Thanks to the USMCA trade agreement, the requirement is assembled in North America, not just the United States.
Usually they asterik the price, though. Since it’s not yet known whether the Equinox EV will qualify for the full tax credit, I’m assuming the stated prices are before any incentives.
Just look up the current gas Equinox to get an idea of the exterior dimensions. As with most EVs, though, the inside is likely to be more spacious than you’re used to with ICE vehicles.
IIRC, the Leaf was based on a modified Versa platform, so it makes sense that it’s FWD.
I mean, I enjoy 200hp in my 5,000-lb, RWD SUV. It absolutely plants itself on acceleration, modest as it may be. I imagine FWD will be more prone to wheelspin and traction-control intervention than RWD.
