I was thinking about a Warren/Harris ticket or a Harris/Warren ticket solely in terms of strategy to consolidate the base of the democratic party.

“Not me, us. So vote for me, not them. Me. Not Hillary Clinton, me. Not Joe Biden, me. Not Elizabeth Warren, me.”

Yeah. And I think also why he sought out an elite defender to partner with.

It helps to remember what some of those propaganda efforts were aimed at. Not necessarily at getting people to switch their vote to Trump. It was also aimed at depressing turnout among Democrats by playing up the fact that Clinton was more of a center left politician not a true progressive, and increasing turnout

I agree. Sanders’ policies were and are more popular than Sanders himself. And it’s not just about policies; it’s about personality and the ability to inspire voters to vote for them.

individual voters are not pretending to like her to stop sanders. (that’s mostly the remit of the Third Way freaks busy talking about how in order to prevent The Unthinkable they are willing to reconcile themselves to Warren. for now.) but the majority of Warren’s supporters, as of right now, are the pathological

Yeah, I can’t tell what Sanders is going to do. He could take either path. One leaves him with a good reputation; the other makes him reviled by all but his die hard supporters. This scenario is presuming that Warren gains in the polls and Sanders doesn’t or even goes down in the polls.

I think it has to be Warren. There is too much animosity for Bernie from 2016. A lot of Democrats still blame him for 2016, and a lot of them don’t like that he refuses to officially join the party. He has no room for his vote share to grow, as even if Warren dropped out I think half her voters would go to Harris.

I’m a big Warren fan and think she offers a lot of the same policy benefits of Bernie, but has the capital within the party and in both the House and Senate to move her priorities through (e.g.., folks like Pelosi, Bennett, Tester would fall in line with Warren, they’d challenge Bernie). I also think she does a strong

Democrats should win in 2020, barring a serious fuckup.

Don’t you think that voters are going to make a choice for them?  In other words, end up backing the one they think is the more viable?  Based on polls and debate performances?  If one of them comes in first or second in the Iowa caucus and the other comes in 4th, then the one who comes in 4th should see the writing

And, much like Melo, people will use the old and broken down version to argue that he was never good.

Warren is polling ahead and is raising more cash. So it is clear who needs to drop out today.

I’m just gonna go ahead and say that Bernie should do what he should’ve done before he announced his 2020 candidacy (his 2016 run was fine—and necessary): Step aside for Warren, and be the elder statesman he’s earned the right to be.

Not everyone needs to be President. Shit, President isn’t even the strongest office in

Bernie will never drop out. Bernie will never pass the torch. Because Bernie has devoted himself to building a movement that can only have him at its center. The concessions he has made in the past, like supporting Hillary after losing the primaries in 2016, were clearly done only because he would have taken even more

Analyzing LeBron as a GM is like analyzing Trump as a president... Of course they are doing long term damage to the organization. But they don’t care. They care about increasing their personal wealth and brand in the immediate future and they are doing that effectively, and will step off the train with all their lucre

Abso-fucking-lutely right.

Truth.
