Deregulation brought down prices by more than 50% and turned flying from a niche product for elites into a mass market product. It was a disaster for airlines, since their cushy regulated market went away, but a massive win for consumers and the country as a whole.
This is simply not true. Average all-in fare (including fees) is down 20% from 2000 on an inflation-adjusted basis. In nominal terms, it’s up 14%.
Many years ago, I was visiting Budapest with my family. We ate in a restaurant with a strolling violinist. As he approached our table, my father handed him a very nice tip, telling him, “please take this, and don’t come near our table for the rest of the evening.” He smiled, walked off, and everybody was happy.
Can’t we all just debate something uncontroversial, such as “what is the one true religion,” or “what sports team is unquestionably the best”?
Ask the United Airlines unions how well that worked out...
“It’s legal for the parasites who buy an ownership stake in your company to decide they will appropriate your livelihood for themselves”
For the bill-splitting I understand, but absent that, why on earth would anyone use Venmo rather than a credit card to pay Uber?
Hey, I love Con Air. It just gives off the vibe that pretty much everybody involved (particularly Malkovich and Cusack) are just having an absolutely wonderful time.
Charging pad is back to $23, sadly.

True, but the crash rate for aircraft is so much lower than the probability of dying going a given distance by plane rather than car is an order of magnitude lower.
Thanks. So, maybe not a perfect metric for “works counts,” since it’s not that an intentional walk actually adds real pitches to a pitcher’s “mileage.” Generally, I agree, they should be included, but for this particular purpose, might make sense to exclude them.
Does that include intentional walks?
Kinjamprove is a wonderful plugin. It allows you to mute users, among other things.
Again, when you’re talking about people, female is an adjective. People who use it as a noun (as you are) are doing so very intentionally.
Hint: she’s female, not “a female.”
I hear what you’re saying, but it’s also a function of the setup on which you play games. I play on a TV that’s on the wall of my living room, about 10 feet away from my couch. So, the TV only covers 40 degrees of my field of vision. If I were a PC gamer with a multi-screen rig, then I might well feel differently.
In what FPS can you fire your weapon someplace you aren’t looking? Maybe they’re out there, but never any that I’ve played.
Nothing whatsoever. I was merely pointing out that it’s not necessarily the case that pets are “true innocents,” and hence we should be more sensitive to their pain than (adult) humans.
