The NFL was deceptive - the league office was a non-profit (like a trade association), but all the revenue flowed to the teams, which are for-profit entities.  Essentially, the total taxes paid weren’t any different, it’s just which organization was paying them.

Many moons ago (like the early 70s), you could get a vanity plate (all letters, upfront fee, fee every year), or choose a regular plate (must have letters AND numbers, upfront fee, no extra annual fee).  My dad was a junior, so instead of JRD (John Richard Doe), he got JRD 2.  

I had that same reaction the first time I saw a pro basketball game from (almost) courtside.  Watching on TV, or from normal seats, you don’t really understand just how BIG these guys actually are.

So, how do you distinguish “shoppers/starbuckers” from “people in the vicinity”?  The real impact of this bombing was to screw up a whole bunch of people’s commutes, and they tried to find alternatives.  

The money already exists when I use a credit card.  The only difference is that, with a debit card, I would hand it over immediately, while with a credit card, I don’t hand it over for weeks.  

I get a 5% discount with Amazon, and if somebody will give me a better discount with cash than I get with my credit card (rare, but does happen), then I’m happy to take that.  

Using a credit card =\= borrowing on a credit card. Practically all my spending is on credit cards, but I never carry a balance.
