If you objected to the surge pricing, you could have just grabbed a cab.  Wait, there weren’t any available cabs, since cabs don’t have surge pricing?  Got it.

Re-reading, it’s obvious you did. Sorry about that. Definite mansplain on my part.  Apologies.

Technically, businesses are only required to accept it for a debt that’s been incurred. If you’ve eaten dinner at a restaurant, and the check arrives, you can legally pay in pennies, if you want. If you’re at McDonalds, so you haven’t eaten your food when you pay, they’re free to refuse to take pennies/dollar

It’s actually a hard number to find - Atlanta is split across two counties.  If we assume the ratio of voters/population for the city is the same as in those counties, we get around 300k registered voters for Atlanta.

She intentionally just asked for $1, to make it clear that she wasn’t interested in the money, but rather in having her case validated by the court.

Temporary speed bumps. Put them down the day before, take them up the day after.

The suburbs could request annexation...

Agree in part, but I would bet that, if the R primaries in each state had been run with instant runoff voting*, the results would have been different.

In 2000, this election wouldn’t have been close.  Atlanta’s white population has gone from something like 31% to 38% in the past fifteen years.

There are 470k people in the City of Atlanta, so it’s about 90k out of around 350k potential voters - 6M is the entire metro area.

It should be.

Agreed. What I really want is a “my time is worth $X/hour” option, and have it choose the route based on that. Spend $6 in tolls to save 2 minutes? Nope. Spend $2 to save 20 minutes? Yes.

Damn right.  Own it.

Exactly. The GT is a marketing tool designed to help the Ford brand, not a product they’re selling to actually make money on it.  So, they want them in the hands of people who will ensure that lots of people see them.

Murse.  It’s called a murse.

The way I think about valuing points for travel use is: what would I have paid for this ticket with cash?  Divide that number by the points used to get value per point.

I would love to see a feature in Waze that lets you say “my time is worth $x/hr” and let it decide on taking routes with tolls or not.  Paying a $6 toll to save 3 minutes?  No thanks.  Paying a $1.50 toll to save 20 minutes?  Absolutely.

Other way around.  The payout is capped at $500k, so anything above that is on you, whether you have $1k or $10 million in assets.

“drivers are well known for having no spatial awareness and a homicidal disregard for the rules of the road”

If you’re going to attack people for being brainless, try to at least get the plural of “sheep” correct.
