He’s not wrong though. Ford is tossing you the easiest part of the whole deal, leaving you to figure out the most difficult part.
Also, the whole fucking point of a “crate engine” is the easy route...

The entire time I’m reading this, I’m going, “is that fair?”, only to come to the conclusion that, “yeah...that’s totally fair.” Well done.
Dunning-Kruger is a thing. As is illusory superiority.
Studies pretty consistently show 80+% of drivers think they’re above average.
Obviously these effects don’t apply to me, as I am clearly well above average as a driver, but for you, they definitely apply. /s
This comment did not get enough love. Had a 100 series on 33's and getting through the mountains was an experience...
...they do that to Priuses and Uhauls. Doesn’t mean they aren’t underpowered too.
...it is literally for the wealthy. Most Americans are not on track to retire at 65. Only 10% of Americans are confident they will have enough saved for retirement.
While I haven’t driven the 5.7, the 6.4 would leave at idle. It was impossible to stall and took off without issue. Compared to my gutless Miata it was a marvelous experience. The Miata requires high revs to keep the damn thing from shuddering and stalling.
I’m in the market for a Challenger (or will be when the market…
My first thought upon seeing this question was U-Haul. Wouldn’t want a manual in one.
Anything I choose to drive on a regular basis would be best with a manual, even in SoCal traffic.
Oof, same here actually. We’ll probably try to replace the worst of the boards and limp the rest along for a bit longer. Good luck.
I bought my house in 2019 as well. So ridiculously glad I did not wait. The median price for a single family home in the county has gone from 570k to over 800k in that timeframe.
I, unfortunately, did not buy a car then. I’m finally ready to swap out the daily, but the market is really stupid for things I’m interested…
My dad’s dream car was always a Corvette. He had a lung transplant and the deal was always that he’d get his Corvette if he survived it. He survived it, but life tends to get in the way and he hadn’t gotten the opportunity 7 years later. He had a nasty bout with meningitis, and started having issues with rejection.
Cru…
...you honestly expect anyone to pick the P1?
I have absolutely no love for 1%ers and I’m honestly pretty sick of hearing about cars that can’t even be considered dream cars for regular people as they’re completely divorced from reality (see the recent Porsche GT3 vs GT3 Cup story on this site - could not care less).
But a Singer isn’t something they’re stuffing…
...gotta be honest, I don’t see how anyone can be that salty about the ridiculously high level of craftsmanship that goes into a Singer. Maybe step away from the internet for awhile.
For data? Average miles per year for Jeeps tend to be under the average American’s yearly mileage driven. Anecdotally I’ve spent time in the Jeep community (having owned one for a while) and done some very long commutes (200 miles/day)...pretty much no one would use a Jeep for that.
As for a 22 mile commute being…
...it does off-roading exceptionally well (particularly rock crawling). Pretty much better than anything else on the market. It does fun exceptionally well. And yeah, the fuel economy is fucking fantastic for a vehicle that people don’t generally drive long distances in regularly. This isn’t a cross country touring…
Doesn’t matter if you’re willing to pay MSRP, they’ll still play games. The price of the vehicle is only one tiny piece of the fuck-you-over-puzzle.
Along the same line: they weren’t profitable when their drivers bought, maintained, and parked the cars. They’re suddenly going to be profitable when they have to put out the capital and manpower to support a full fleet of robocars? Not to mention fully owning the liability?
‘09. It’s a great car, would highly recommend. I’m just getting old and noise is affecting me more than in my youth.
Earplugs.
I’m up around 50,000 miles in my Miata over the past 4 years and, with a new longer commute, I’m done with the noise. I can still hear what I need to hear, but the tire noise, wind noise, other cars, buzzy engine, and, most importantly, the damned rattles all go away. I’m getting to work and back home way…
