Ah yes, I tried to shoehorn in a different context that is explicitly the content of the article you commented on. My bad for reading the article.

I can’t believe this studio is still making the same game and expecting us to pay $70 for it, and to play it for more than a hundred hours.

That’s not what happened here, this isn’t a third party exclusivity deal. MS spent 7.5 billion to make this acquisition and they’re leaving money on the table by keeping it of a platform with an additional 40 million or whatever install base.

It’s not more profitable though.

Cool thought pal, good thing I didn’t say that!

Buddy, you could steal every video game on the planet and I wouldn’t call the cops, it’s none of my fucking business. I’ll call the cops if I think they can help the situation, which really isn’t very often. Go ahead and list every hypothetical you can think of though, sounds like a great use of your time.

I would, and have, multiple times, reported my car stolen. It’s my car and if someone does some unsavory shit, like try to escape the cops, get out, and shoot a cop, I wanna let them know that’s me. I’ve done that.

For retail theft? Literally no one, ever. Why the absolute shit would I get involved in that. Have you seen America recently? I’m not trying to get anyone killed.

The guy that stole the stuff and filmed a ton of him doing crimes is a dumbass, but you also suck. These can both be true at the same time.

I’m hoping this quote will be my experience from the jump:

I’m less in the camp of “why does the game suck for 130 hours” and more in the camp of “I’m never going to be able to have time to play this”. I’m pretty fine with the concept of a huge game I can ignore large swaths of, and I’m fine to just enjoy the main quest and whatever side stuff piques my interest.... but I

Did he steal them?  It doesn’t matter, they’re stolen and he has them. This dude is dumb as hell.

Take the time, fuck the deadlines, balance (as best you can, as developers) your work and life schedules - we (gamers) will still be here when you feel your game is completed and up to snuff.

Eh, you aren’t really entitled to enjoy any piece of media you consume. It sucks more when spending $70 on a game you don’t like than spending $15 at a theater on a movie that sucks, but if you don’t watch the trailers and read some impressions and you end up disappointed, that’s mostly on you.

Call of Duty: Finest Hour

It’s absolutely insane to me that they didn’t have this at launch. It’s the absolute most effective extrinsic reward to retain a player base.  I finished the first battle pass and stopped, like I assume so, so many people did.

This year is ridiculous.  RE4 Remake, Zelda, FF16, Armored Core, Starfield... haven’t had a year this stacked in quite a while. Plus other huge things I don’t really care about, Spider Man 2 mostly, kinda interested in Mario Wonder.

Sure, but they don’t do anything with it now.  The acquisition not happening wouldn’t have made ActiBlizz start working on a true sequel to The Lost Vikings or whatever.

Sure, and it’s folly to understate how big of a deal that is, but if you personally don’t care about Call of Duty there’s not much meat on the bone for what this means personally in the short term

Oh thank God it’s almost over.
