I will be thoroughly impressed if any team misses the playoffs by 1/2 a game

There seems to be something odd going on: this is a team is slightly above average in total bases (1707 vs 1649 league average), that does not hit a lot of home runs (122 vs 136), has crappy numbers across the board (except for RBIs) with RiSP, and are 6th in the league in runs scored.

All cash barbershops: barbershop in the front, “laundromat” in the back.

Be glad I held off on using ‘<>’ and confusing even more people.

The day my insurer figured out a 5 year old 1M != a 5 year old 135 was a very sad day

But because of the awful playoff format we are guaranteed that two of the top four teams will be eliminated next round while either the Pens or another not that good team walks into the conference finals.

I believe the intersection of “Current playoff teams” and “Teams who can take on Karlson and Ryan’s contracts” is a null set. Unless that’s a bluff he’s headed to Arizona or Carolina

I can assure you that they still very much cry Fuck You from St. Louis

Doubly so with the list of free agents coming up next year. Many years you might tell these guys to take a one year deal an “prove it”, but no one wants to be the 10th best free agent next year.

To be fair, Zubov is a last name that starts with “LaP...” or ends in a silent “x” from easily being in a while ago...

I agree, partly, but if the benefits are that expensive, they need to be dialed back. If I were a union employee, I’d rather a bigger paycheck, but it might be politically easier to get a giant pension. Either way, the union and politicians are ensuring that spending on MTA employees is too high and we’re unable to

The NYT article makes very clear that you can’t just spend money, you have to spend it intelligently. State and local government has directed the money to the wrong places, whether it’s been to vanity projects or politically connected groups.

That sounds great and all, but the NYT article makes very clear (~3/4 of the way down, if your looking) that MTA labor costs at both the operator and manager level are way way WAY out of whack with pay in other transit systems across the country, cost of living adjusted. On top of that, only the MTA insists on having

Eh, this one isn’t a great example, since it isn’t really all that special to see silver on the dash. The dash is always the same color as the exterior, which is really eye catching on the non-silver or black ones.
