Other presidents have said they were going to work on curing cancer. That word ‘work’ is important - it means they were promising to put federal funds toward medical research that might develop a cure. Some of those federal funds have assisted in the development of treatments that helped some of us cancer survivors…

Odd that Trump would pick AIDS, of all things. It’s a disease that mainly affects black people and homosexual men. Unless his supporters are secretly banging blacks and gays on the sly (especially black gays), which, I guess, would make it a major issue.

Maybe he’s been listening to the Marianne Williamsons of the political right too much. Believe how you believe, but cancer and AIDS don’t go away with good thoughts and prayers.

I’m not gay or trans, but I grew up in a place where I was very different than others and was I guess what the kids call now a days “bullied” because of it. The stories are plenty, from actual violence, to things that would be felonies for sure, to threats of violence, to just really mean stuff. Against myself as well…
