Reatta:Ey Ain’t Typically The Answer

This is my 2430th—and final—blog as this site’s night man. After five years of writing here almost every day, I am moving on to pursue a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I will still occasionally publish some freelance posts here, and really want to see what Bob can do with the place.

Sir Herb has said we can’t do

Herb Jones Chevy?

Side note from my college experience.... I had a 4 door sedan. Very practical. People always asking for rides to school and the like.

If this is a first car and you have $8500 available, buy something for ~$6000 and put the $2500 in a savings account so that when something goes wrong, or you need snow tires, etc.,  the money is there already and you're not scrambling to figure out how to pay for it.

I say just get the best Prius you can for $8,500. Your wallet will thank you.

RE: 1st gear, but how do those filters effect performance. If the impact is negligible and usable lifetime long enough, I wouldn’t mind installing them on my truck. If it’s going to kill 10% or more power and need to be replaced every few years then fuck that.

Wait. That’s my car.

One of the reasons for date rules in this game is to find a way to site-certify things. Let’s take helmets, for example (because thats something that everyone get’s super wound up about). It’s impossible to visually inspect a helmet and determine if it’s still safe. It could have been dropped from a garage shelf;

Some groups also require arm restraints for convertibles, they might be worth looking into while you’re doing everything else. I went with a BRZ instead of a Miata or S2K just so I didn’t have to deal with all the extra convertible safety rules.

Fun read! I also had to install a seat lowering kit on my Miata. Even on a newer car, it’s not an exact science and took some jiggering to get things lined up right.

Miata faithful call this a BFH treatment

Need to step up on your Hammer Collection, escalation of force is critical

A magnetic tray/bowl is always useful.

1. Use gloves. I have been so stubborn about this but they can help from dinging your knuckles and possibly get better grip.

If you get frustrated, walk away if possible. I know sometimes you gotta fix the daily to get to work and are under a time crunch, but if you aren’t, wrenching frustrated is when you break stuff or ruin something. Stepping back and relaxing can even help you find the solution you weren’t seeing under the red mist.

I expect this is my last chance to this:

I too am thrilled to read Raph’s latest work in Horse & Hound.

I’ve got some more bad news for you - Torch is gone, too.
