@CABEZAGRANDE: I couldn't agree more. The ~01-ish E39 5 and E38 7 (and E36 and E46 M3's) were the apex of BMW styling for me. Then Chris Bangle and government safety regulations had to go and f*ck it all up.

I guess the good looks skip a generation.

I'll answer this question for my brother-in-law, who is a firefighter: 458 Italia.

Oh God, win.

@evoCS-Hench-Minion to the stars: A couple months ago my neighbor posted his 2000 323iT, sport, premium, manual tranny, 125k miles for sale. He was asking quite a bit (I think around $9000), certainly more than KBB. I still see it parked in our apartment complex so I assume it didn't sell, but there haven't been any

Well, happy birthday then.

Same effect, without getting all choked up inside.

Gags and whippings! Gags and whippings!

Asphyxiating the engine. Motors need to breathe, too!

15,000-mile oil change intervals. I'm looking at you, BMW.

Gorgeous body; check.

Don't bother. We all saw pictures of the 2011 Explorer, it's the latest in a series of bloated, ugly crossover catastrophies. We can all imagine what it will look like with a black-and-white paint job and a light bar.

@Jeb_Hoge: Do you know something we don't? I've heard of other mid-engined supercars (Lambos and older Ferraris, mostly) self-immolating, and my first thought was that the engines weren't getting enough cooling behind the passenger compartment. Maybe the cooling is insufficient at low speeds?

He tweeted an apology for tweeting?

I'm not taking the time to read that whole post, but congrats on the CotD nonetheless!

Attention Ohio State University boffins: you are doing it right. Carry on.

Oh, so THAT'S what they look like.
