Or, if you're on more of a budget, check out the 2014 Zero Motorcycles S and SR. Air-cooled motor, direct drive gearing, carbon fiber belt drive, regenerative braking, naked bike geometry, weighs around 400 lbs. The SR will do 0-60 in 3.3 seconds, top out at 102 MPH, and go 137 miles city/70 miles highway (70 MPH)

Glad I'm not the only person who noticed this. Your cyclist doesn't put out "100 watts per hour". Watts are a unit of power, which is energy per time. Saying "100 watts per hour" is just as wrong as saying "65 MPH per hour". Unless you're talking about the rate of change of power output, which you're not.

The xB packed on more like 600 pounds, or ~25% of its first-gen weight (1st gen: 2,395 lbs. according to Wikipedia; 2nd gen MT: 3,027, according to Scion website).

Lithium metal will react with water, yes. But in general the lithium in Li-ion batteries is not metallic lithium for this very reason. At the cathode you have lithium cobalt oxide or some other complex compound, and at the anode you generally have a graphite matrix hosting lithium atoms or possibly lithium

That's awesome. Not only is it a great burnout, but the driver knows how to control the car and put on a good show. The kazoo sound at the end is just icing on the cake.

It sounds like Tesla turned safety up to 11.

Dibs on the Robocop statue.

You kids and your silly apps.

Nike's brand may be slightly more valuable, according to the 2013 Millward Brown survey, but I'd argue that Intel has had a bigger impact on the world.

I would argue that Las Vegas is a more famous brand than Zappos.

"1.1 kWh of power."

Whether it was an organized race, club ride, group ride, or a single individual is COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT. This bitch hit a cyclist, didn't even stop, and then laughed about it online. Fuck her for being an arrogant piece of shit, I hope she goes to jail.

Yet another example of government displaying a complete lack of common sense. This is appalling.

This is exactly what I was going to say. I read an interesting article recently from Ars Technica (http://arstechnica.com/science/2013/0…) about how a current crop of NASA engineers dug one of the old F-1 engines out of the archives and digitally recreated it from 3D scanners, etc. to develop an updated version. They did - it's called the FR-S/BRZ, it's from Japan, and it's affordable to boot. As far as I know, Germans don't really do small, nimble, RWD and reliable.

You can get a nicely-equipped 328i for that much money have a fully-functional car that you can actually put people/stuff in. As a bonus, you won't look like an idiot!

The real shame is that our "leaders" can't seem to fulfill their responsibilities and come up with a sensible budget.

This + decent weight reduction plan = awesome. Can Porsche pick up where Lotus left off?

Dropping 920 lbs. and improving aerodynamics are fantastic, but couldn't they have kept the styling of the previous generation? It was a damn good looking car.
