I seem to hear a difference with AptX but I could be wrong. I’ve never compared the two but the marketing for AptX makes sense.

If you really can’t hear the differences between 256 and lossless, all else being equal, that’s just a matter of knowing what to hear. Once you learn to discern those things they stand out like sore thumbs on poor equipment. My setup isn't super high end but it's hard to listen to cheap speakers, for example.
