FYI, in the original tabletop RPG this is based on, the Cool stat was used similar to Willpower. Basically, how well can you ‘keep your cool’ when under pressure, such as a firefight, being interrogated, etc.

As I was reading this, I kept thinking of Neal Stephenson’s Baroque Cycle books. The characters walking around 17th Century London are constantly kicking turds out of their way - both indoors and out.
