Dave Ramsey’s car advice is too black and white but your example is not the average person. Most Americans are buying crossovees, SUVs and Trucks. Also they spending on average 40K. They are not buying midsize Japanese cars.

I think the answer to what happens if you can’t fix the threads is pretty clear. You then would have to pull the engine. It would suck but when it goes south and you need more room. Could also maybe pull the other mounts and Jack up from the oil pan across wood blocks but this does add torque to the transmission.
