Pretty much all of them do, I really noticed it when I tried playing the slapdash ports of the Jedi Knight and Turok games on Console. The developers didn’t bother to put in any aim assist, and as a result they feel extremely difficult on console, when I really had no problem with them on PC back in the day.

That was my first reaction, too.

I think the biggest problems with this game were how long it takes to become “fun” and the horrendous writing. I played through the whole game, and I really enjoyed it overall, but it’s a really hard game to recommend since it doesn’t become “fun” until about 8-10 hours in when you get enough upgrades that you can

This reminds me of the time in 1993 that we were on a family roadtrip and there was an abrupt snowstorm near Chatanooga, TN where everyone was evacuated from their cars. We spent 2 days in a Days Inn basement with the other “refugees” while waiting for the snow to be cleared, upon which everyone went back to claim

I think the Switch could handle it graphically with the settings turned down, but the big problem is that Switch’s network capabilities are abysmal compared to any other console out there. That wifi adapter can’t even handle Animal Crossing multiplayer without dropping the session when I have it less than 2 feet from

Physical media won’t help at all with anything on PS4/PS5. I don’t think the versions on disc are even playable with some of the games I get, and they always have gigabytes of patches to fix all the errors they shipped with besides. I’m guessing things are just as bad in Xbox land. Switch, yes, I always get physical

It’s probably similar to how things like the Dark Souls remaster have a very high percentage of people getting the platinum, when on the original release you got all the tons of people bouncing off it that got hung up on the gargoyles or something, let alone did all the grinding and multiple playthroughs. I think

Eh, there have been tons of good PS+ games, the problem is that they never do repeats so unless you have been a subscriber for years you probably missed a lot of the good ones. Just in the last year I got FFVII remake (I think that one was pretty good considering how new it was, even if it didn’t include the PS5

I don’t know if I can name a single series with more than 2 games where the first game is the best. Dragon Age, maybe?? I probably prefer both 2 and 3, but I know most don’t. The only other things that come to mind don’t really count (ex, Metroid Prime 1 is better than 2/3, but it’s a sequel itself).

1 and 3 are also vastly scarier, which I think is a relevant metric with this kind of game. 2's not a bad game or anything, but when I played through the three of them I was very confused by how everyone seems to say 2 is the best, since it seemed the weakest of the three.

Yeah, I sorta like how character size actually affects character performance. I always would just make the smallest character possible since it was such a huge benefit with stamina regen, etc. It was kind of unfortunate that average characters were kind of not good at anything.

I wouldn’t say you have to “try,” I screwed my first character up royally cause I heard the magick archer in the game was awesome so I tried starting the character as a mage and playing through until I could swap to magick archer, and stuck as that till I hit a brick wall. Come bitterblack content, all those drakes

Eh, I also got into the souls games in a BIG way over the pandemic (I’ve now gotten the platinum on all demon souls/ds1/2/3/bloodborne, and am playing through DS2 and 3 again right now for fun for the 3rd and 4th times respectively), but based on almost whenever I was online in DS1/2/3 on PS4 just trying to get

I like the fluidity with combat, but the stamina system is a very big problem when traversing the world, especially with how many quests just send you back and forth from one corner of the map to another. You walk along at a snail’s pace and have almost no stamina for running. Strategically placing the warp crystals

Yep, this is all very true. I absolutely love DD’s combat. And I love the IDEA of the Pawn system and a lot of aspects of it.

Hmm, I don’t know if you want to get into a “Dark Souls is too limiting if you don’t behave according to the game’s mechanics” as an argument for DD. Dragon’s Dogma is absolutely great once you’re set as a class at max level, and yes, gives some flexibility to mechanics, assuming your character was properly levelled. O

I’ve played Dragon’s Dogma for hundreds of hours across three platforms. I love it. But, the open world is pretty terrible and incredibly sparse and saying it’s a great example of open world as opposed to Elden Ring strikes me as just being contrarian. The combat system, the pawns, and especially the bitterblack stuff

It’s certainly playable, but the characters are all about as interesting as a full team of James from ME3, the protagonist’s completely bland (and the default models are hideous), and the combat bizarrely is severely dumbed down from the first three by removing any ability to manually cast your teammates’ abilities.

I did too until I noticed he refers to himself as “guy” in some of his dialogue. I think it’s cause his pants looked like fishnets when looking at the screen in handheld mode!

What about games that someone owns, but don’t currently have downloaded? I am in that boat with this one, since my Xbox 360's hard drive was tiny I only have Peacewalker installed right now out of that collection. Wondering if this means I can’t download the other two until this is resolved, even though I “own” them.
