Haha, I thought the same thing while watching it, almost from the beginning. That part where she hypes herself to go out the sliding door into the pool party had me hyperventilating.

These are absolutely horrible. Nominating Black Panther and Green Book is bad, but Bohemian Rhapsody makes it an absolute joke. There were so many good movies this year. Stuff like Leave No Trace and Eighth Grade got brutally snubbed for this junk.
Ha, I went there a few months ago, and it was by far my favorite part of my trip. My favorite part of the show was Act II, in which girls on giant robots fought against demons on giant tanks. At one point, Mothra came out (yeah, they paused the music to include the Mothra twins song) with a Ninja Turtle hanging from…
I hope we get another quality starring vehicle for Ellie Kemper. She was BY FAR the best part of the last few seasons of the Office despite getting about 2 lines an episode, and this was perfect for her personality. Season 2 of Kimmy Schmidt is up there with the greats like Seasons 2/3 of The Office or Season 3 of…
But the script is the source of the biggest problems! It deserves the oscar for best script even less than the oscar for best picture.
I first saw her in Morning Glory of all things, and thought she was great in a somewhat thankless starring role there. When investigating the rest of her filmography, I found that was unfortunately one of her BEST roles. :(
Oh man, I knew I recognized that name. I watched Trouble Every Day somewhat recently and was REALLY upset by the big nasty scene with the guy attacking the woman towards the end of that movie. It was way too effective! I’m scared of this movie now.
I watched Roma last night without having read any reviews beforehand. It seemed weirdly patronizing, with the big dramatic climax of everyone hugging her in particular rubbing me the wrong way. Maybe I’m over-sensitive! I’m guessing that the very, very out-of-place massively staged shots (ex, the forest fire party,…
I was referring to his bigger-budget attempts after WotW: War Horse, Tintin, BFG and RPO. Ready Player One didn’t come close domestically, but I didn’t know the foreign was so high, so I guess that wasn’t bad! The narrative around comment sections on sites like this was that it A) sucked B) was a bomb. I should have…
I love most of West Side Story’s songs, but never really liked the movie besides the stunner of an opening. I think there’s room to improve in a remake, but it may require cutting some songs as it’s a bit of a slog in movie form as opposed to stage (with an intermission) form.
I did it the other day, it took a couple hours. Weirdly, due to my need to land everywhere while playing for fun I’d already gotten every single tiny island. It was large regions of the landmasses that I’d missed (like, some valley in Sparta). Figuring out that a dull brown meant they were undiscovered was the hardest…
This might be my imagination, but it felt like the EXP required per level increased massively at 60. It felt like I was gaining levels REALLY fast until then, now I’ve been playing for hours for each level. It’s no big deal or anything, just seems like I might not hit level 70.
Yeah, I have the Kingdom Hearts collection for PS4 and that was how I was playing 1. I just couldn’t deal with the gameplay on it. I’ve heard 2's is a lot better. I might just read a summary of 1 and skip to it to see if I like it any better.
How are Hammer films a “cinematic universe?” The only ones that connect to each other IIRC are some of the ones in the Dracula and Frankenstein series (which are totally separate from one another). And even some of the entries in those are completely self-contained, ex Horror of Frankenstein. I don’t recall mod-era Dra…
This is available on other platforms, but if you’re looking for a really fun game on Switch that has a bit of the Zelda feel to it, maybe check out Ys VIII (it requires no knowledge of any other game in the series).
Thanks for the rec, ToV looks pretty fun. I’ll have to check it out. I’ve been going through something of a JRPG phase recently and the gameplay on that one looks like it’s right up my alley.
I tried playing Kingdom Hearts a few months ago, and I HATED the gameplay and just couldn’t do it. It’s this button mashing mess with almost no depth to it, at least in the first several hours before I gave up on it. Like, the boss fight I remember vividly was this disaster of having to jump off of high surfaces at…
His smug act really annoys me, especially on the otherwise good Brooklyn Nine Nine and on what little of the Golden Globes I watched the other day, but the fact he’s married to Joanna Newsom at least partly because he adored her music and sought her out makes me like him by default.
No, but it is compared to Driving Miss Daisy: Reloaded/Crash 2.0 and Not Another Toothless Biopic!
I found it incredibly smug and obnoxious on first watch, especially those cutaways. “I’m Margot Robbie in a bubblebath, here’s a definition of sub-prime loans!!!” Maybe as a result, I didn’t find it to have even a remotely interesting dramatic arc. I really don’t understand the love for it.
