Big thumbs up to the Yakuza entries. You mentioned this, but the cam girls minigame in Yakuza 6 gave me one of the biggest laughs in a game this year when watching the “Kiryu cam” as he VERY SERIOUSLY and furiously two-finger-pecked away as you chose the idiotic chat banter.

The way he worded that does sound snobby, but the gist of his statement has some truth to it. I do feel bad for actual voice actors who are consistently put out of work by celebrities who may or may not be any good at it who are clearly only hired for their names. Mark Hamill obviously is a totally legit and wonderful

The challenger difficulty seemed tied to specific fighters, and seemed to generally escalate through the fighters. I got destroyed by Luigi a couple times, Pacman a few times (mostly due to that stage)a, and then towards the end lost to Cloud and Mewtwo about 5 times each. Mewtwo randomly jumped off the right side of

Temporarily!

Man, Netflix here in the US can’t do that. You need both Hulu and the CW app to fulfill those purposes. :(

When it counts both Star Wars films led by Daisy Ridley as male-led, it’s right to express skepticism IMO

I didn’t see any commentary on the apocalyptic color correction. Seriously, the trailers look like they’re for Children of Men or something. Is the whole movie this hideous? It’s like they sucked every single drop of life out of the color palette. Screenshot #1 doesn’t look that bad, but #2 sure does.

The currently PS4-exclusive* Yakuza 6 and Yakuza Kiwami 2 also came out this year in the US. Kiwami 2 was definitely my GOTY. The remasters of 3, 4 and 5 are probably coming out this year in the US, but Sega’s made no firm announcements.

I think I lasted about 2 months, after getting back into the game pretty hard with Legion. Everything just felt so slow and miserable, and I think a huge part of it was that awful Azerite gear system where it would take weeks to be able to actually equip the gear you received. The huge lack of haste/crit that resulted

I thought Dead Alive was well-known and well-loved, but this comment section suggests few have seen it. IMO it out-Evil Dead 2s Evil Dead 2. It’s definitely my vote for best comedy-splatter movie. It has a sweet core on top of the pus-in-the-porridge and squished rat monkey heads and kung fu priests and baby tossing

YEP, was just hoping for Majima the other day. I’d say he’s completely wrong for the series, but after thinking about playing as him in Kiwami 2 I think he’d fit right in!!

Having been privy to decisions with closing/removing buildings on campus at other schools, I am guessing that this decision was made because of many rich alumni threatening to pull all their financial support if something wasn’t done to right this “injustice.” As with most of the rest of the country, it’s racist old

Ohhh, I forgot about a PC release. You can have your tenuous relevance!

Yep, if you’ve done those you’re probably overlevelled for the last parts of the story. That game is really easy to cheese via outlevelling compared to some of the others. Put all your points into beast mode and you’re basically able to blindly flail everything to death as Kiryu.

Yakuza 0 was 2016. BUT, Yakuza 6 and Yakuza Kiwami 2 both came out last year in the US!!

I first got into this with WoW, I played all four (at the time) healers back in the day and had a ton of fun; it was almost all I did in raids/dungeons from BC till Cataclysm. I did try FFXIV a couple years ago, and immediately went White Mage and stayed that way to max level as well. The greater focus on healers

Wow, Mothra looks way more like Battra than any previous iteration of Mothra.

I’ve never once seen this applied to TV/movie reviews - it’s always 2/4 or 5/10 or 2.5/5 or whatever are the point at which it’s “ok, probably not worth watching but not bad” and 3/4 is “good, check it out if you’re interested” while 4/4 is a rave review.

Your grading system is what’s used in schools for students in

Yeah, the new Deafheaven was GREAT. It was a big relief after the last one was so “meh.”

Wow, Amorphis is still around? I loved Elegy and Tuonela and even Am Universum back in the day. I remember hearing at some point several years ago that they went back towards the folk metal sound of Elegy at some point. What are they these days? I could Google it for myself, but I’m feeling commenty.
