It looks like they got some help from X-RAID, by using a previous version of the BMW X3 X-RAID platform to develop these Great Wall Dakar prototypes.

And it starts with a surprising win from Carlos Sousa driving a Chinese Great Wall Haval... or maybe not that much... Carlos as proven to be a very consistent driver with his 15th Dakar participation... And this Haval car is actually a BMW X-Raid under the body...

I bet BMW's strategy is to make the MINI grow in size in order to slide a smaller MINI under this current generation.... I mean, a SMART ForTwo fighter...
