There is probably a ton of back story here but the grooms parents and the groom by extension come off looking WAY worse then any one on the brides side.

The RICH women influence other RICH women. If your from a different sock-economic status you are left out of the game.

While I think that plays into a little bit I do think there are a couple other things in play:

Right? Everything about her extremely privileged and out of touch. But we are supposed to clap?

Part of the problem here is that everything she details only comes from a wealthy and power backed view of the world. She talks about women gathering at fabulous Met style parties, but not one else can see them. Not men and certainly not women on a different socio-economic scale. Then she says she wants them to be

Only each other and only ever behind closed doors. Not able to express these ideas outside.

I agree. Everything about this article was hollow fluff piece. I totally agree Muslim and Arab women are getting the short end of the stick when people in the west judge them as docile and/or unfashionable. But I’m also not going to back down from stating the obvious that obsession with modesty is deeply problematic

Does this entire thing ring somewhat hollow?
