“Shopping around” in my experience is just a matter of going on cars.com and searching/filtering for what you want. I don’t really get how these places find people going for these mark-ups. The last few cars I’ve bought were found online, often before the dealers even knew it was on their lot.

There’s a rusted to shit old Integra that must be owned by someone who works nearby.  We walk by it all the time.  The thing is an art piece with how beat it is, but it is STILL way more interesting than the new Integra.  I don’t even understand why they bothered calling the new car an Integra.

We bought our last car outright. Still took something like 4 visits I think. In fairness they were having trouble getting plates which held things up, but it seemed that they couldn’t communicate issues with the purchase any other way than face to face. Still took a surprising amount of time to deal with the finance

That Kia story is bonkers. With the trade in value isn’t it more like 34,425 for a 17,790 listed car? Almost double the price? I’d have gone to Carmax after that too. I sold a car to Carmax once and it was the easiest car ownership transaction I’ve ever had.

Why would Hamilton quit if he doesn’t want to?  We’re lucky to keep seeing him drive.  Dude should have won last year.  This year isn’t looking good, but he’s still driving great.  Even assuming car problems aren’t a factor, he’s still a better driver than most of the field.

It has been interesting to see how many people think racism can only be intentional.

Hearing about the French was fucking inspiring.

I don’t see how they’ll succeed on a platform nobody wants to deal with.  Is there a bundle with hulu or something maybe?

It’s almost like the city can address two issues at once”

Many/most are probably illegally modified, but I still agree that it is a massive waste of resources.  They’re destroying machinery that’s worth a ton of money.  I feel bad for all the people trying to scrape by out there who could really use one of these things after making it street legal.

The people of Boston will salivate over this. Like most cities, we have the illegal dirt-bike problem too. People lose their minds about them despite them mostly being a real problem for only a very small area of the city and otherwise just something that you maybe see for a moment during your daily walk about.

narrow mountain shelf road”

Posing as what?  An auto is perfectly fine off road.  Slipping the clutch or stalling is not something I want to deal with off-road.

Weird. Our 2007 Mazda3 wasn’t too bad for the time.

We use android auto, but the built in nav in our ‘21 4Runner actually has some nice features and pretty good maps for when we’re in really remote places.  Otherwise, I think Toyota acknowledged that the screen was just going to be used for AA or CP and didn’t bother trying.

We rented a Jeep Rubicon in Salt Lake City that had a really weird head unit.  You could pair your phone with it, but apparently ONLY by using voice commands.  So we had to park in a lot and very carefully and repeatedly enter a series commands from the manual to get a phone to connect.  It was so strange.  This

When we’re driving around out there we have an emergency satellite beacon and at least 4 gallons of water in addition to various other repair, recovery, and survival stuff.

What are they even intended for? Their wide bodies and high HP engines with bonus heat (from the supercharger) aren’t something I’d pick for going off roading or even just out on remote roads. The bed doesn’t seem like a great place for luggage. They’re too fancy to be used for a work truck.

I see so many Raptors and I live in a city.  The price and cost of ownership isn’t going to mean they won’t easily sell every one of these they can make.

As someone who remembers being one of those kids, it isn’t so sad. I envy the kids of today and what they can easily carry with them on a road trip.
