It’s telling that all of their promo photos include a license plate. I’m sure if you asked them they’d say it’s because a plate is required, but I think it’s because visually it breaks up the grilles and looks like a more standard front end design.  Remove the license plate and those grilles look like a huge pig nose.…

It seems that in the past BMW styling was derived from the 5 series. That was always the best proportionally and they scaled up or down. Now they seem to have switched to SUVs as the basis and its just a bad idea.
