I think the BaT bid was on the high side. ND

Before I went to work at EMPI I was a line mechanic at a few SoCal dealerships including Economotors. It and EMPI were both owned by Joe Vittone and it was the VW flagship dealership in America. On a really hot day, like 105 or more degrees the tow trucks would be lined up outside of the service doors with dead VWs.

I know most of you will disagree but I’m NP on this bug pending an inspection. When this was a new car I worked for EMPI the VW hot parts folks so I was neck deep into VWs. I do remember this special edition and saw at least one. I’m maybe even buying the mileage looking at the seats and the steering wheel. Again a

I can think of dozens of reasons I wouldn’t take this car even if it was free. Huge ND

It’s a nice low mileage car and the price probably isn’t too crazy so NP. Would I want it? No.

I go over to San Francisco often and I know A/C isn’t needed there normally. But, 20 or so miles to the East of there it is needed and even doing the repairs myself it can get costly. Plus, I have known a few surfers and almost all of them had shitty cars. I guess it’s part of the life style. I’m not a fan of GM

Nice looking car. Too bad it is British. ND

I have a pretty large tool box. I started buying quality automotive tools right after high school, 1967. One big drawer is only specialty tools for air cooled VWs as I worked for 3 different SoCal VW dealers while in college. Afterwards I became the purchasing agent for EMPI the VW speed equipment providers. Some of

Back in the 1970s Los Angeles Plating sponsored my race cars. One week I stopped by to pick up my check and the people in the office all had long faces. They had discovered human bones in one of the huge vats of whatever nasty boiling shit they used. Those vats were connected by 2" X 12" unsecured catwalks. They said

These were great cars back in their day. I had a few in the late 1960s/1970s. My ex would drive nothing else and continued to drive them for years.

Maybe in your home, but for sure not in ours.

I really like Ford trucks, but these things were pretty stupid. Plus, as pointed out this may be a scam, but I don’t think so. Who thinks tires made in China is a selling point? ND

I’ll never own a pickup with a back seat. What a huge waste of space. Granted I have had Super cabs and the little extra space I used. Three rows of seats is just stupid, but I expect that from Dodge.

This one is a pretty quick no. Probably a junk yard engine from the 1970s that was installed using a hatchet. Run away from this one. ND

It’s really a pretty easy swap on an E30 that I have done it 4 times. I have done it both ways, buying a wrecked donor car and buying the parts at a Pick n Pull. 10+ years ago you could still find lots of E30 parts at the yards, but not many today. You swap the flywheel and clutch assembly, trans, and driveshaft. That’

I’ve lost track of how many E30s I have owned, but 3 of them were cabrios, so I do like them. Yet I quickly voted ND. First, it probably has more miles on it than what shows on the odo. Maybe a shitload more. All E30 odometer gears fail at some point. They are plastic and they get very brittle and break. Even when new

No thanks on the list. People should go where they want to live even if it costs a little more.

Sure, that is a lot of money and with it you could buy all kinds of wonderful shit. But, this is a pretty cool car. Buy it and enjoy it. NP

I have always loved Jeeps. I learned how to drive in a CJ5 60 years ago in the Pismo dunes. The Jeep grille is iconic and known worldwide. They tried to screw that up with the YJ. To me this is pretty over-priced, but it might sell for that on BaT. Still ND

I’m so glad I live in Northern California where stupid fucking Republicans have zero power to do anything.
