There are those of us who realise that we benefit from the system, and are mad as hell about that. It’s not fair that I get better treatment in many situations because I look like a nice white lady. It isn’t, and I hate it.

I am a black woman. And, as such, am now throwing down a gauntlet in order to give Jezebel the time that it needs to prove that it does not red line the voices of black women. The clock has been set and it is now ticking.

Amy Cooper’s actions and racist policing are both symptoms of the problem. And holding Amy Cooper accountable is a start. There has to be a starting point, regardless of whether or not it should have been established a long time ago.
