Yeah, in another discussion I actually brought up that moment as an example of how to do this sort of gag right, because the focus is always and exclusively on the family bonding over their shared activity, with the screams being pretty arch, in the background and off screen. If we saw the carolers writhing in pain…
Addams were a nice loving family. The violence is off putting. A dong bitten off in the first trailer? Piranha 3D already did that. Be more creative.
Oh shit, some 80 year old boomer managed to wander in here by mistake.
The Sons of Katie Elder and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance are two more.
5th Avenue, 5th Amendment, whatever...
People suck and justify it with whatever fucked up reasons. Belief is not limited to religion. Zoom out. You’re falling victim to the exact thinking you criticize.
Wikander is in the first line of the article. I know there’s always plenty to shit on in AV Club articles but come on.
I thought her personality change was jarring and clumsy. You can take a new life and job but you’re still yourself. It felt like everyone (writers director etc) botched this part of the show. The writers got carried away in their Florida-woman stereotypes. “Wait I know! And she’ll only make sandwiches with white…

I’d see a Star Wars movie if I knew Poe was hanging onto the wings of the Millenium Falcon.
He doesn’t just reference the Titular Line sketch: Those pennies you have? They’ve all been in his ass.
Some of the shots of the desolate roads gave me the Chris Rock season of Fargo vibes.
True, but I’m guessing Florida Man isn’t one of those guys. He’s basically a good-natured bum, which is apparently Kim’s type. I don’t find it at all implausible that a man-child who’s never had to shop for himself, other than beer and snacks, wouldn’t know the difference between salad dressing and mayonnaise.
Its gets a little annoying to see certain places constantly portrayed in media as nothing but dumb rubes who dont know what Miracle Whip is. Its 2010 in the show for chrissakes. They made it seem like 1982.
yeah not to harp on the OP but i do think it’s funny when people consider the messiness of human feelings to be a plot hole. although it does sometimes feel like that in real life too!
I don’t think there’s anything inconsistent with having a failing marriage and being devastated when your husband seemingly has a breakdown and commits suicide, then being devastated again when you learn he was the victim of a cruel prank that ended up getting him murdered.
I don’t know if she’s still deeply bereaved. As we know Howard was definitely trying to work on his marriage with counseling but his wife I think was ready to just call it quits. Howard getting killed though would still devastate her. Kim showing up clearly brought back a lot of grief. I don’t think she was sitting…
Also a bad look: perpetually surprised.
It’s probably impossible for me to view this adaptation impartially. I’ve been going through a rough time recently, and by “recently” I mean consistently for the past two years. Just in the past couple of weeks I ended up in hospital, not for the first time this year, and it was an even more unpleasant experience than…
