She’s a fortune teller, and therefore makes her money by exploiting the grief and/or credulity of others for financial gain. I hope her claim of parentage isn’t the only falsehood of hers that is exposed, and I hope it pains her.

That sounds lovely, nothing like nerdy love!

Yup.

Most likely, that’s the crux of the issue, and in either of those scenarios, I feel this bears repeating: don’t poop where you eat, people!

well, no. Nobody has made a dime building and testing and revising those rockets. They very much WANT to turn a profit on commercial orbital freight, but they will need to recoup the many billions they’ve spent trying first, AFTER they’ve worked out how to do it profitably.

Listen,m I don’t know you. And as far as I’m aware, this is the only thing of yours I’ve ever read. I don’t actually expect you to need this or take me up on the offer even if you do, but - If you ever find yourself in Lansing again, and need to get away from your family; for serious, message me privately, and my

“Oh, so my opinion doesn’t matter? Good luck fighting for civil rights without white allies!”

I had an ex-girlfriend with some awful, awful luck regarding kidney stones. The first time she had any problems with them was the morning after she was at a potluck dinner for her multiculturalism class. She was throwing up, so we’re both like “oh man, food poisoning, clearly.” when she was STILL throwing up like, 5-6

Addendum: replace “internet access” with “decriminalizing the creation, ownership, and distribution of pornography & its subsequent popularity,” and one is able to account for any trends after the what...50s, or thereabouts?

Hrm, let’s see: The early to mid-nineties, the dawn of the internet (well, okay - the dawn of commercially viable access to the web /pedantry). Accurate results from a study like this rely on the accuracy of self-reported behavior of all kinds, but perhaps most crucially, accurate data regarding how often men jerk off.

Yes, that’s Ron White. And yes, he’s genuinely very, very funny. Not exactly positive of his political affiliations, though. I’d look it up, but I honestly think he’s funny enough that I don’t want to risk ruining my opinion of him, just in case.

As an athiest who vapes, I take offense at the implication that I possess whatever inherent character flaw or flaws are required to find Bill Maher’s tired schtick watchable.

Well stated. I really enjoyed the show on a number of levels, but I agree with everything you said about it.

They don’t all know each other, no, but there ABSOLUTELY are significant numbers of people in the LGBT community, especially in places that have become known as “havens” for queer culture, who consider it a responsibility and privilege to provide for and protect other LGBT people who need that help. Yes, even when

Right?! I have 5 echos around my house, and being able to use them as an intercom is a conspicuous missing feature that would be great.

Home Depot sells Craftsmen these days, actually. It’s...weird.

they probably read (or, perhaps more likely, read about/picked something up from someone else who read) “liberal Fascism,” an un-ironic literal manual on how to properly contort the language and one’s mind to effectively digest the bald-faced doublespeak term, because the Nazis were better dressed and more easily

Credit where it’s due: that *was* a solid nerd-burn. I was picked on a lot when I was in primary school, but I was also an enthusiast of comedy; if I was teased especially well, it probably cheered me up more than any low-effort compliment would have. It certainly caused less confusion.

I really should see if I could get my hands on one of these. I used one at work, YEARS ago (obviously), and even back then, I thought the whole idea was simultaneously endearing and hilariously derp.

In all fairness... “gothic” as the term applies to the work of Rice’s fiction is related to, but pretty distinct from, the traditional sense of the word, and one could argue that Ann Rice was at LEAST instrumental in the creation of this new definition of “gothic,” if not its origin.
