Because I have concerns how that contingent will act come the general if someone like Bernie becomes the nominee, because their issue with Bernie and others isn’t their policies, it’s their identities and who they believe to be their base.

Bases outside the US: Fine-ish, depending on where, with a special consideration of how military bases, expansions, and exercises with certain allies have proven antagonistic (see: NATO playing wargames near Russia, NATO trying to add Ukraine).
