i would rather have a full htpc than my revue. all kinds of online content is blocked because the flash player has a signature for the revue. you cant go to hulu.com and play a video with chrome, it's blocked. with a regular htpc you would have no problem doing this.

the revue plays mkv files just fine from a usb hard drive. i never tried to stream it though.

you get all of the online content/local media streaming/media player etc, just no set top box integration.

It's pretty easy to see here, even from that awesome infograph, that the problem lies in just how many phones there are. Apple has , essentially, 1 phone. Ok its technically 4, but it's really just 1, iPhone. They can cater to that single (4) phone. There are literally dozens and dozens of "Android" phones.
