I’m an insurance broker that deals with oddball risks. I don’t see how this can even function without imploding. If the end users are 1099 “freelancers” of the platform they will likely become de facto employees of the restaurant since you can’t have a 1099 server / cook / host / what-have-you. Well those concerns you have about union executives are non existent in my Iatse local. Our books are clean. But that myth of union corruption is typically just anti-union propaganda put out by big business that want to destroy support for unions. Does it exist, sure. Is it the norm, no. Also, there are no more stages available. Seriously, most stages around the world are booked. They could go overseas but will find very little in the way of stages to shoot on, and many other unions have voted to support our strike, so they will find little quarter anywhere around the world. I’m glad we voted yes on the strike authorization. the studio’s asks are straight up abuse and they try to play it off as if they’re some humble mom & pop shop just getting by.

Strikes suck and does nobody any good- so maybe AMPTP needs to realize that the reasonable ask from IATSE is a negligible pittance on the overall finances, and they can step up.

“I hope that the studios will see and understand the resolve of our members,” Loeb said. “The ball is in their court. If they want to avoid a strike, they will return to the bargaining table and make us a reasonable offer.“

Sell Texas to Mexico, then use that money to build a wall.

There’s only one thing that OK can do that’s not shitty: donate the stockpile to a country or area that has annual malaria outbreaks and take the write-off. The state legislature can vote not to count it towards the deficit or some shit.
