I'm going to be honest, my TV watching this season has been spotty at best, but from what I've seen you may be right. Still, seeing blue collar, economically disadvantaged families in prime time is a rarity and for that I salute it.

Watching The Middle and then Modern Family will give you class whiplash. And I enjoy both shows.
