There’s two sides. There’s the pragmatic, mathematical side that RAND is saying “even being a bit better than the average human will save lives”. Then there’s the side where humans tend to exaggerate and overcompensate for extremely rare dangers (especially when they’re scary and we feel helpless to prevent them),

Yes, but I suspect they will have a harder time than people finding alternative paths around an obstruction.

Under some definitions of adverse weather, that is the exact right course of action.

They’ll probably drive better than humans with lidar, radar, detailed road maps, and GPS.

Honestly it just seems like they had a very quick and easy unlock method with Touch ID, but then had to go and waste a lot of money and throw in additional components for this Face ID that is, at best, only just as good as they already had.

Yeah I’m not a big fan either. I like Touch ID for a lot of reasons. The biggest is that I can unlock and use my Phone via Siri in the car without taking my eyes off the road. With this you have to literally put it in front of your face or you can’t do anything with it. And you know people will do it.

The only thing worse than candy corn is circus peanuts.

I didn’t think you were saying that race was the issue. Several people have, though. That’s what I was referring to.

This is like telling me the existence of the ancient Greek root word klima means the climate has been the same the whole time and can never change.

You really don’t know what a speed LIMIT means do you?

That’s a horrible idea. Bicycles on the sidewalks leads to more accidents when they cross the street, only serves to endanger pedestrians, and can be a pain in the ass when there aren’t curb cuts.

Thats a bit of a hyperbolic response on your part no?

People still quote Billy Madison? How quaint.

good/no sympathy/they should abide by the same rules/spandex nerds/fucking hippies/get a car/I drive a car AND ride a bike so I can post a shit comment/I never drive over the speed limit or roll through a stop so fuck people that I could easily kill/another stupid lycra comment

Many things will go wrong. And they will still be better than what we have now with tired/drunk/distracted humans driving.

And yet in the grand scheme of things, more traumatic brain injuries would be averted by mandating helmets in automobiles....

I think the fact that there are all kinds of horrible car owners who brag about their crappy cars proves that it’s not the Wrangler’s fault.

Do you even ride bro?

Also, “40 mph”: Sir, your speedometer seems to disagree.
