gasoline also degrades over time so that scene in TLOU where they drive a car makes no sense

I guess I’m an idiot cause I had no idea that character was supposed to be trans. I thought Lev was just a kid that was rebelling against the Seraphites.

“Spending 25-30 hours playing a game to a sequel you also didn’t like is so weird to me.”

TLOU is the first game series where I wonder if it would have been better as a movie series and not as game. It seems like the story would be much better without all of the “videogame” stuff.

She described death stranding minus horses!

I was going to offer my 100% RDR2 save file. There are no quests, no bandit camps, no bounties... Just horses and folks to say ‘howdy’ to and fish to catch.

i was gonna say the Witcher 3. but yeah red dead 2 is a good choice.  or breath of the wild.

I loved it precisely because it made me feel like I’d been punched in the gut for 30 hours.

I actually really liked the first one until the end soured it for me. I was hoping for better with 2 and i’m a sucker for a good story. TLOU2 isn’t a good story but it was compelling as hell. Enough to make me go ‘let me finish this’. But by the end some of the choices made had me begging ‘please END IT PUT ME OUT OF

Ash have you played Red Dead 2? It sounds like the game you described was read dead 2. Horse, open world, and beautiful scenery.

Seriously.  It’s a fucking sitcom people need to chill.

Yeah. That’s what’s been said all along. Especially in the 90s. People were told to slow down, we made enough advances, stop nitpicking, time will continue to sort it out.

No. Worry about stuff now. Every single time something is brought up that should be addressed/corrected, someone shouts NOW IS NOT THE TIME because of xyz.

The time to do the right thing is right now. It was a decade ago. It is always the right time.

Coming in with the hot take that’s going to piss a lot of people off, but fuck it -

Isn’t the answer that the good police officers work from within the system to bring about systemic change and root out corruption?

Yeah, this is an important part of the national conversation. Really advancing the football with this one.

Interesting read, thanks! Like most media the game will affect different people in different ways. Whether the themes hit home for someone may depend on their predisposition to realistic videogame violence (or simulated violence in general). I find myself largely unaffected by it and I’m hoping excessive brutality

Thanks for the review, some food for thought though, i don’t actually read Kotaku reviews to help me decide whether or not I will play a game, I actually tend to read them to see a critical and in-depth analysis of themes raised in the games, and to see whether or not i agree with them. To that extent, I’m not quite

Honestly TLoU’s story ended so perfectly bittersweet that I feel like any sort of continuation wouldn’t do it justice. The only thing I could think of would be an entirely new set of characters unconnected to anyone from the first game. It’s just not the kind of story that was begging for a sequel.

I think it’s more than fair to ask “Is this the right time for me to play this game”.
