I wish I liked the Yakuza games more. I tried 3 and Judgement and I always start off really liking them then getting bored and never finishing them. They have cool stories and characters but there’s so much fluff and the gameplay just bores me after a while. There’s not enough combat, not enough variety in combat and

Now playing

As a long time fan of the series (been playing since the PS2 days) I am VERY excited by the change of pace that’s happening here. I remember when the game was first announced as Shin Yakuza being heavily disinterested in what they were putting out there (not only was it Kamurocho again, but now there’s a “new dragon”

huh...yeah fuck it why not. I seem to alternate loving (4, 0, kiwami 2 before i got distracted 6 chapters in, i’ll restart it in the future i’m sure) and hating it (5, Kiwami 1, probably 6 as well when i get around to it) so i doubt this will drastically change where the coin falls.

There are 7 other amazingly good Yakuza games with the action-oriented gameplay. I’m fine if the 8th decides, temporarily, to try something new!

Yakuza is the Fast & Furious of video games.

Yeah, at this point I trust these guys to experiment if they want. If it doesn’t work out then it doesn’t work out.

I rather a great dev take a swing and a miss than be content to roll out the same shut year after year.  Also, I love JRPG turn based combat like in Persona, so depending on execution I cam get behind this.

I love the Yakuza series but every game has been cookie cutter gameplay. Great cookies every time though. That being said I welcome a switch up in the series. Can’t wait

On the one hand: I normally don’t enjoy action games, yet found Yakuza’s take on it incredibly accommodating, not to mention a gratifying guilty pleasure. I will miss it.

Given Sony’s... shaky history with cyber security, I really hope they’re actually making an effort this time.

There is Homebrew that actually accesses Sony servers directly to download the game, app, dlc, theme content. Sony, theoretically, should be able to stop this, but they don’t, so with that Homebrew you can tell your Vita to download any game in the vast library of digital content whether it’s sold on Sony’s PlayStore

I believe my hacked Vita just spoofs the current version to access PSN, but I haven’t tried pirating software so I’m unclear on how that all comes together.

I’m a Vita owner who has not hacked his Vita and plays it, including Remote Play with my PS4. Fuck off.

I primarily use my Vita for remote play so I can play PS4 on the toilet or in bed.

My cousin is a big time copyright lawyer in NYC. So yes the legality of protecting your intellectual property is super important. If you let one little thing slip it could be a precedent to strip everything away later. Even alone this is super important but also having to protect the back end of the PSN store and all

Hacking your Vita is worth it just to be able to use a micro SD card adapter that is faster, larger, and cheaper than the official storage cards. Seriously, even if you have no intention of ever doing anything illegal, do that.

They still sell quite a bit software.  It is stupid-easy to pirate games straight from PSN itself with a hacked Vita.

The Vita is also tied closely to the PSN store so why would they want to let the Vita get hacked only to have the hackers create back doors into the PSN store and steal games and data.  Should have done some more research for this article.

How does this benefit Sony in any way? The Vita officially ended production, so Sony isn’t going to be generating any more revenue from the system at this point. It’s funny how Sony wasn’t willing to make a lot of games for the Vita but are willing to push out firmware updates to a now dead system.
