It’s a shame Captain Obvious was forced to join the conversation.

The tax is called the Heavy Vehicle Use Tax, some jurisdictions have an annual Commercial Vehicle Tax, toll crossings have charge more for heavy vehicles, etc.

The decidedly high end Model S and X along with loans and subsidies helped, and Tesla still almost failed at one point. GM selling high margin EVs will help them pay for lower margin ones. Does it have to be a Hummer? Maybe not, but it’ll help.

This is ridiculous. These should also face a resource tax, like a gas tax.

These will also help pay to develop all those Bolts and other future EVs. The number of Hummer EVs will still be relatively modest overall.

Big EV bad. Small, compact, 4-cylinder hybrid city truck bad.

I really don’t understand why this is so much worse than so many of the cars we claim to love on here.

Absolutely. GM succeeded on the next tier in Tesla’s footsteps: Tesla made EVs desirable in general. GM just made EV trucks desirable.

I’ll admit to eating a little bit of crow on this one because I legitimately never thought I’d see any article critical of any EV published here.

Jalopnik: We hate people with money, cars, trucks and EVs But we love brown stickshift wagons, reposting 7 year old posts and slideshows.

The door is also open, the car may only be in Accessory mode.

I’m just picturing how much ground is covered at 260MPH and...wow.

I always thought the old “Gentleman’s Agreement” of a 155mph limiter was a good thing. Definitely fast enough to get your undivided attention, even in a very capable German car. I found 130mph in my 328! wagon to actually be a little bit boring. But 155mph in the M235i was definitely not. Amazing how much difference

I’ve been at 130mph+ in my BMWs and had a big Mercedes or a Porsche go by like I was standing still. Or better yet, one or more maniac bikers. Those guys are just absolutely *insane*. And much harder to see coming, even with headlights on full sun mode.

Yeah man right there with you… My Citroen C3 Cactus rental car blasted down the autobahn full throttle at 130 Kph last November somewhere around Frankfurt… It was awesome. To me everything going by me looked like that 911 Polizei car.

I am an adult, but sometimes, just sometimes folks, I forget. Not all that long ago, someone hit 130mph on a BMW K11o0RS. On a frontage road. In Atlanta. I think the speed limit there was 50 mph. Not saying it was me, but...

Thanks to my Army enlistment served as NATO headcount in Germany, I’ve experienced first hand the Germans and their love affair with ripping down the Autobahn.
