Exactly! They made it abundantly clear the villains were racist. Using that word would not only be overkill, but it would also underline the writer(s) didn’t know how to get that point across otherwise. They did it just fine.

Absolutely! I think its very clear he’s unhappy at least (drinking a lot) and depressed at most. He’s become the cranky old man who (probably) often bangs on that ‘kid’s door with the baseball bat. I feel like the reviewer was willfully blind here.

As a black fan of the series, I can’t say I was bothered by much in it. Yes, her character doesn’t really add a lot, but that can be said of MANY supporting characters in the series. And, yes, I was sufficiently put off by the Nazis’ racism. But they are FUCKING Nazis and I’m happy to be outraged by the VILLAINS so…
