The Road to Perdition/Logan comparison is a good one. I wouldn't have thought of it even thought it seems obvious now that you've mentioned it.

If it does go I will miss it, but I'm glad it got better for a couple of seasons after that bad middle season. I will mostly be sad for no more Winston and Aly. Nasim Pedrad has been a great addition to the show.
Yeah, I'm very much in the "Please let this be half way decent" camp. You can mess up Batman and Superman a bunch but there are not many chances for a Wonder Woman film (or, you know, any superhero film based around a female character).
This is why I shouldn't be posting late. Thanks Cookie!
Thanks, I knew I had the wrong paper and couldn't find the tweet again.
I don't know but I also don't know if Birdman has stood the test of time either.
The editor for one of the major papers (New York Times I think) tweeted that he had to send an email actually saying "stop the presses"
Honestly, I think losing and losing in a public way (and being gracious about the loss) is going to save La La Land's legacy. Instead of being burdened with the "Best Picture" title people can watch it for what it is: a nice tip of the hat to classic movie musicals with a charming lead couple.
Flashlight: the musical!
Watched the episode today so I thought the same thing when the Oscars snafu happened.
Yes. It's how things could have ended if the people involved had made different choices instead of marrying Tom Everett Scott.
Awarding people to make up for not awarding their other films is kind of how the Oscars roll.
"Did you see how the envelope moved? Back and to the left. Back and to the left Envelopes don't move like that"
My favorite Pixar short is Partly Cloudy, which didn't get nominated or win any awards. It's always interesting to see the Pixar shorts in the broader context of animated shorts because you see the strengths, weakness, and outline of the Pixar formula very clearly.
Live Action shorts are up next, along with I Am Not Your Negro, if I get time before Sunday.
Watched the thoroughly delightful How to Marry A Millionaire. Betty Grable was great, it's the first film where I've really enjoyed Marilyn Monroe's presence, and Lauren Bacall carried the film well. My only complaint is that whenever a character has an option to marry William Powell in any movie she should take that…
31 Days of Oscar is my favorite part of TCM programming.
"There are no take-backs at black church!" is a phrase that goes through my head way too often especially as 1. I am not black 2. I don't go to any kind of church
Can't we save the Patty Hearst movies for an adaptation of American Heiress like nature intended?
Yay! Glad she's starting to get film roles. She should have a couple of awards by this point so this is a decent consolation.
