But how will I sob uncontrollably if I don't have Eliza Schuyler talking about how she founded the first private orphanage in New York City?!

We should probably talk about how good Tom Holland's American accent is because my thought through most of this video was "holy shit, Spider-Man is really British?!"
He's just now thinking of this? As an adult who was once a child, owning side-by-side houses connected with a tunnel has been a long-standing personal dream. He's slow on the uptake.
My home as well. I love how hilariously vague it is. Did they think she got punched? Were they hoping she was the Nazi that got punched? Are they looking for ways to punch her? It could be anything. Years of Brownback have sent the state over the edge.
The voting lines up. Oscar voting started January 5, the Golden Globes were January 8, and Oscar voting closed January 13th.

Yeah, I saw that. I enjoyed his return to this style
I'm a little sad Kathryn Hahn didn't get more praise for her role in The Visit. Her jokingly chasing the train then actually chasing the train towards the beginning and her describing her relationship with her parents at the end are the only grounding parts of the film.
Look up the illustration of Lex Luthor in Superman for All Seasons and tell me it isn't Trump. He has this panel towards the middle of the story: face in profile, menacing stare, head tilted, orange hair, and the caption reads "I'm never wrong."
The best part of Blazing Saddles for my money is Clevon Little drawing the gun on himself while playing both the attacker and hostage. It's a fantastic attack on the duel stereotype of black men (the angry/aggressive man and the weak minstrel fool) and a commentary on the duel white fear and white savior complex. On…
It's the way he made the soldiers laugh. He took the fear and homesickness that all the soldiers, including himself, had and made it into a shared experience. Every one of those soldiers wanted to hear their mom call them into dinner or call them home and he knew that. He turned private grief into group catharsis.
I read that and wasn't all that surprised either that Phoenix didn't do it or that McAvoy did. After seeing Filth I feel like McAvoy will be perfect in this film.
It's the Jaydon Smith backlash. After Earth for me was more like the film equivalent of a shrug. I didn't engage with it enough to have strong feelings about it either way.
Also, in real life the people of earth went to the moon which is an environment that would kill humans if they didn't wear a suit.
I think weirdly Shyamalan wrote for Phoenix well. The Village feels tailor made for Phoenix: not a ton of dialog but put to good effect, the silences are used for comedy (Lucius' stone-faced but uncomfortable reaction to Kitty declaring her love for him), and the part still has a decent amount of range for what ends…
Graham: Why are you in the closet?
I like Signs for being one of the only openly comedic roles of Joaquin Phoenix's career.
They alive, damnit!
I tell people all the time that the first hour of The Village is one of my favorite films and probably my favorite love story. The filming, cinematography, cast, and roll out of story in the first hour is amazing. Where it falls apart is the multiple twists at the end and, as you mentioned, the marketing.
We were supposed to have a massive ice storm this weekend that turned out to be nothing so I binge-watched all of Series of Unfortunate Events because all of my planned activities were prematurely cancelled.
