I read the online forums these teenagers are on. They were very aware of the Yezidi women being raped and justified and celebrated it.

As I said a couple of times before here: I read the forums these girls get radicalized in. It is far beyond being a dumb teenager. These girls are fervently celebrating having no rights. Albeit, out of the safety of the Western world.

Well, these in particular have been groomed to become house cleaners, cooks, laundry women, nannies, mothers, sex slaves...

From interviews and studies I've read with sociologists, strangely, IS seemingly offers them more rights and an important role. They grow up in Europe, but without any of the rights European women have, within strict Muslim communities.

Not always the case though. I just read some articles in Guardian about these girls and they all come from middle class families. In general, IS members of the Middle East usually come from well-off families, European ones mostly don't.

That is a question I keep asking myself. Gender undoubtedly is societally constructed but that still doesn't explain how men of all cultures, religions, countries and histories enslaved women or how violence and especially gendered violence is male.

I wonder if this has to do with the discussion had on the unretouched Cindy Crawford pictures. That guys are socialized through the media and porn. I got into the argument on that post about female genital mutilation the other day. Another commenter had the only good response to that "what total meatbonnets" and caught the wrath of a cultural relativist who was incredibly insulted on their behalf.

The JW are misogynist, patriarchal and hierarchical to the core. They preach that women (who are not allowed to preach) are inferior beings who have to submit and obey to men. You can imagine that this kind of societal structure enables the abuse of women and children.
