I’m not an expert (although I do have a step-daughter who is developmentally disabled), but Honnold strikes me as being on the spectrum more then being ‘deeply broken’.
It got overshadowed by ‘Free Solo’, but ‘The Dawn Wall’ is an absolutely riveting movie. It tells more of Caldwell’s life story, including him retelling the story of his abduction/escape in Kyrgyzstan and the PTSD that resulted. His book is worth checking out as well.
