As an electrician I strongly agree with you.

Huh, I’m more familiar with the theory that randomly putting electricity into an otherwise healthy body is a very bad idea. That theory’s still holding strong, last I checked.

Kind of explains the "Amundson is an unpublished writer..." part of the article, don't it?

Zing!

"Fret"? People expressing opinions—we're cool. Since a lot of creativity is that first spark of idea (well, for me anyway), the rest of it is getting the story to paper since it's writing itself.

That was my first thought too. I'm sure it's all pretty harmless and will be fun for the participants, but no, I've got zero interest in doing a writer's job for her.

Don't fret. It seems like a lot of people are just sucking it up to another cute Youtube girl that they will never meet. There was nothing wrong with your opinion.

Wow, so like we have a choice? That seems... what's the word I'm looking for... fair?

The tone may be 'shitty' as you put it but there is a strong point to be made. Anyone may participate in the creativity gathering, or community whatever they like to call it. I don't fault her clever marketing for what I am sure will be an excellent book/trilogy. However, at the end of the day, she is using the ideas

So... she crowdsources the creative part - "We're collaborating in a creative space!" Seems like a fun exercise.

You're terrible and I'm through.

I think it's a wonderful project and a clever way of building a creative community but I don't necessarily expect everyone to agree with me. For my part, I think it's poor form to shit on people who don't think the same way I do. But I suppose I'm an outlier 'cause folks seem to love your comment.

In what way is that a shitty comment?

So is this an example of the "sharing economy"? Io9 readers supply the creativity while she (eventually) gets the money. Oh but wait! There's a "credit". Yeah, that's fair.

It totally, totally does. That's why it's a right. How is this difficult?

Actually, it does. That's what a right is.

"I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." That is a cornerstone of a free society. You don't like what someone else publishes? Publish something better. Convince people that you're right. Instead, you're coming across as a thin-skinned proto-fascist that thinks speech is

She has the right to do it, and you have the right to not like it.

Rubbish. Being offended is an opinion of an individual. You have as much right to be offended as the offender has to offend you. It's called freedom. The irony is that extremists function very happily in free societies because they are free. So everyone benefits. We don't get to decide the rules of what is offensive.

Actually, that's exactly what it means.
