The point was that the only thing that could make her any more privileged would be being male.

Are you me?  I had exactly this experience (except I didn’t go back until I was nearly 30).  I fear this is all too common.  And what makes it worse is that college doesn’t even equal financial success.  I like the job I’m going to have but I’m going to be riddled with debt for many years.  And fun fact: one of the

My takeaway from this thread is that Bhad Bhabie is a successful entrepreneur who is living the American dream by pulling herself up by her bootstraps.

But even if she knew about it, what would you have her do? I presume a lot of this was happening when she was 17 so it’s not like she could just pack her bags and leave. And even if she could, where would she go? As a minor, her parents likely had control of her finances and as a privileged person she probably had no

Agreed wholeheartedly. My parents forced me to go to college right out of high school and it ended up being really mentally unhealthy for me and a huge waste of time and money. Once I figured out what I wanted to do, I had to go back to school and essentially start over from scratch when I was nearly 30 so I’m just

If her parents told her she had to take the photos and had to go to college what was she supposed to do? Pack a bag and leave? I don’t know how much of her own money she had or if she was underage at the time this was occurring but it would take a really brave/really principled person just to leave behind their whole

I mean, even if she knew what they were doing she likely didn’t have much choice in the matter. I wouldn’t expect someone who grew up with overbearing parents, never having to fend for herself to be able to have the skills or knowledge to just say “fuck you mom and dad”, pack and her bags, and leave to get a fresh

Who could forget the much-sought after Emma Thomspon/Anthony Hopkins action figures.  The must have gift for Christmas 1993.

I prefer to think of SATC as a Golden Girls prequel.

I feel like we’ve already traveled down this road and back again.

Based on his timeless looks and generally robotic demeanor, I’m like 93% sure Keanu Reeves is actually a cyborg.

If he is, he’s really really good at keeping it a secret and pretending to be nice. And, although I like Keanu, I don’t think he’s such an amazing actor that he could pull off such a ruse for all these years.

That’s possible save for the fact that she didn’t seem to have a problem with it until a man told her not to like it.

Also most people know their song “Straight to Hell” since it was the backing track for MIA’s “Paper Planes”.

Lol. At least he’s honest. I’m not sure I’d expect a multi-layered, nuanced treatise on the artistic experience from the guy who wrote “Hot for Teacher”.

Came here for this thread. Was not disappointed.

I’ve heard Jewel herself say she dislikes that album in an interview a long time ago.  I, however, still like it.

This whole article smacks of internalized misogyny.

I think the bigger issue is that people change but music doesn’t. Jagged Little Pill will always be Jagged Little Pill but I’m not the same person I was in 1995 and Alanis isn’t the same angry 19-year-old that produced that album.  However, that doesn’t mean you have to enjoy these things any less.

SP is definitely in my top 5 favorite bands and I do not understand why they haven’t had the staying power of the other bands of that era.  I’m 33 (lol) and when I talk to people 10 years younger they will know Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and even (IMHO) lesser bands like Bush but not the Pumpkins.
