‘You’re gonna go wait in line with 70,000 other people for a job? That doesn’t seem really that practical,’
- I like Quincy Jones but also fuck Quincy Jones for saying that.

I’ve never seen Fennell’s TV work, but her movies this far suffer from incredibly muddled messaging. Not complex or shades of gray messaging, which is great, but simply the lack of any real authorial voice other than one that wants to shock. Hard to explain it, but both PYW and Saltburn felt like a rich person…
I love a Gen X band keeping the torch alive for getting PAID FOR THEIR DAMN MUSIC.
I had the same issue with Promising Young Woman. When you boil it down, the entire movie is about a woman willingly throwing her life away to make the tragic death of her best friend all about her.
I just adore the whole story behind Wuthering Heights, where two months after Jane Eyre made a huge splash, the writer’s little sister who was just known as a creepy weirdo who went on hours-long solitary walks through the moors put her own book out. No one had any idea what to expect, and what they got was a super…
I enjoyed watching it as a lolwtf spectacle... but then you think about it a bit and the underlying message is pretty shit.
The novel is already full of over the top emotion and insane behavior, so she’s a good fit for the material.
A post-scandal clip of CK drifted by as I was scrolling comedy videos the other day, and it opened with a really good joke:
“Here’s some advice only I can give: If you ask someone if you can jerk off in front of them, and they say yes, ask them, ‘ARE YOU SURE?’
And then, still don’t do it! Just don’t do it. Obviously.…
I recently rewatched “Better Things”. In season 2 (which along with season 1, has CK writing/cowriting credits for all but one episode), there’s a scene I completely forgot about where Pamela Adlon gives a ride to an actor who just got fired, and during the ride, he suddenly tells her he has an erection, and starts…
I’m eager to see it. They guy was arguably one of the greatest living stand up comics at one point, if not one of the greatest comedians ever, full stop.
but it does seem that humiliating the women was part of it
Used to be a big fan of Louis ck, haven’t been able to go back to his stuff or see anything new he’s done since this news broke out.
Frankly, I’ve never thought that Louie’s behavior rose to the level of Cosby’s or Weinstein’s but it does seem that humiliating the women was part of it. Otherwise, why not just find a willing participant or hire a sex worker to watch you.
This subject has been at the top of my mind ever since the Gaiman thing hit. Another successful male creator has been accused by multiple women of vicious, violent repeated sexual assaults, and the big names in science fiction and fantasy writing are silent about it. They’re going it cover it up and pretend these two…
“He might be a rapist, but by God he’s no hypocrite.”
Insert Norm Macdonald clip about how he disagreed with Patton Oswalt that Cosby’s hypocrisy was the worst part, but that instead it was all the rape.
The worst part is probably his terrible actions.
Yeah, I guess I just don’t understand the compulsion or need to jerk off in front of uncomfortable people. Seems like if I had that compulsion, I’d maybe want to seek help for it.
Does it point out how often he’d pantomime masturbation on stage? It’s made his old bits pretty unwatchable.
